WIDS Program Manager Job Description

As WiDS’ Program Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to play a lead role in the creation and delivery of high-quality programs for the defence and security community. You will be tasked with bringing individual projects together into a comprehensive whole to innovate and support the WiDS’ mission and vision – to support the advancement of women in the defence and security sector. As a newly created position, the successful candidate must be a highly motivated, self-starter ready to dive in and work with the team to develop efficient strategies, tactics, and systems that ensure all programs achieve the desired outcomes. Working with a volunteer executive team, you will provide strategic input and act as the main point of contact for the organization, perform project and event management, support proposal development, and coordinate sponsorship activities. You will be responsible for coordinating the executive team meetings, liaising with CADSI (whom you will be co-located with), and managing member and affiliate relations  

Our ideal candidate is a proven leader with experience in event planning, project management and proposal writing.  Experience with the defence and security community is considered a significant asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project and program management

  • Communications and marketing support

  • Social media and website management

  • Proposal writing for corporate sponsorship and government funding

  • Event planning and execution

  • Budget coordination, tracking and reporting

  • Remotely support regional liaisons and events across the country

  • Contribute to creation and maturity of governance and project management processes

  • Document management

  • Engage and manage volunteer teams

  • Work with the extended team at CADSI to leverage and align opportunities.

  • Engage internal and external stakeholders at all levels of government and industry to facilitate effective cross-functional communication and support effective inter-organization planning and collaboration.

  • Assess and manage program performance using key indicators.

  • Lead WiDS’ implementation of Office 365

Requirements

  • College or Undergraduate degree

  • Minimum of 3 years project and/or event management experience

  • Strong oral and written communications skills including website and social media strategies and content management.

  • Proficient in project management

  • Sales or business development experience including proposal writing, grant writing, fundraising etc. would be considered an asset

Experience working in the Defence and Security domain would be considered an asset
