WiDS Volunteers Information Sessions

We are simply humbled by the amazing response to our call for volunteers.  We are also remiss in hosting a volunteer information session for those amazing women and men who stepped up to volunteer their time. 

We’ve made it through our busiest Spring ever (this is exactly WHY we need you!) and are pleased to announce the information session.

• Wednesday, 5th June

• The Canadian Association of Defence and Security Industries (CADSI), 251 Laurier Avenue West - Suite 300, Ottawa

• A Conference Bridge will be made available to our national members who would like to call in 

• 1700-1800 EDT

• Followed by a social at Grounded (those on the bridge can have a geo-agnostic beer call!)

Did you miss the original call for volunteers? Are you interested in furthering your career, building your network of professionals, strengthening your leadership skills, and implementing new ideas within our Defence and Security Industry?

If so, the WiDS Executive Team has an incredible opportunity for you.

We’re looking for volunteers who want to step up and make a difference.  For a few hours a month, you truly can help lead a powerful network that works together to transform culture. Maybe you’re a seasoned veteran, or perhaps you’re on the starting line of your career – wherever you are, you have a voice and we would love to hear it.

WiDS Executive Committee:

The Executive Committee comprises leaders at all stages of their careers from across Defence and Security, who drive opportunities for the membership to meet, learn, and grow. Their collective contributions provide platforms for a vanguard of talented and devoted Canadian women serving our national defence and security missions. We are immediately looking for:

• Vice President, Sponsorship; and

• Committee leads and members for

  • Professional Development

  • Communications & Marketing

  • Scholarships & Fellowships

  • Networking & Events (one time volunteers, or recurring roles)

  • Industry Connections

  • Government Relations

  • Sponsorship

Being involved with the committees is a stepping stone to a VP position, as we succession plan for 2020 and beyond.  Our VP positions are held for three year terms, and are a succession platform to the President's role.

Executive Champions:

Senior Public Service Officials and Industry Leaders who act as key channels to provide strategic advice,  communicate stakeholder trends, and organizational needs and objectives. They enable their respective membership to participate, and support participant funding for WiDS initiatives.

Liaison Officers:

Government, security, public safety and industry representatives whose knowledge of the business and organizational structure allows for information sharing, networking, and identification of specific topics that resonate with WiDS membership in their respective organizations.
